The next day, travel to Peru's most iconic wonder: Machu Picchu. Aboard a tourist train, you'll cross the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes, where you'll begin a guided tour of the world's most famous Inca citadel, discovering its history, unique energy, and stunning Andean landscapes.
On the third day, you'll visit the ancient Moray agricultural laboratory, where the Incas conducted advanced cultivation experiments, and the ancient Maras Salt Mines, a landscape of stepped salt wells that are still in operation today. The ascent takes approximately 45 minutes, but it's important to note that the descent can be challenging due to the steep paths. This visit option can be taken after completing the main Machu Picchu tour. The entrance fee is $60.
Access to Machu Picchu Mountain
Machu Picchu Mountain is another of the peaks surrounding the sanctuary, with wider and less steep ascent routes, making it a less demanding option. The estimated time to reach the summit is approximately two hours. Given the time required for the hike, it is recommended to add an extra night's accommodation in the town of Aguas Calientes.
